On September 4, 2003, with the opening of The Funk Box, Federal Hill's only live music venue, history is about to repeat itself.
Mother's Federal Hill Grille and Walther Productions have joined forces to build The Funk Box, the Finest small music venue in Baltimore for local, regional and national touring bands of varying genres.
The Funk Box will enhance the vibrant Baltimore music and nightlife scene by providing a superior live performance venue that is located on the site of one of the city's most historic live music facilities, the Eight by Ten. Over $2.5 Million has been spent to rebuild 8-10 East Cross Street, for the sole purpose of hosting consistent, quality live music, with the best acoustics, increased sight lines, in an upscale, urban environment.
The Funk Box will present Blues, Funk, Jazz, R&B, Jam, Rock, Bluegrass, Reggae, Country-Alt, Fusion, Latin, Salsa, Dance, Alternative, World, Hip-Hop, Pop, Folk, Singer/Songwriter and more, in a funky atmosphere where dancing, parties, and good times will be a nightly occurrence.
The Funk Box hired one of Baltimore's leading architectural firms, Parameter, which specializes in the design and refurbishing of historic buildings into unique spaces. The Funk Box is a creative mix of old world charm with modern architectural vision.
The Funk Box aspires to provide a funky, upscale atmosphere, with high-quality sound, friendly patron and artist hospitality, and an energetic music loving staff.
